Jean Beliveau played for the Montreal Canadiens from 1950-1971 and won the Stanley Cup 10 times during his playing career. After retiring as a player the Canadiens kept him on as a VP where he helped them to another 7 Stanley Cups. Nobody else has their name engraved on the cup more times. Beliveau was also the first winner of the Conn Smyth trophy as MVP of the playoffs, won the Hart trophy as regular season MVP twice and the Art Ross trophy as regular season points winner once. He won these trophies playing against guys like Gordie Howe, Henri Richard, Bobby Hull, Bobby Orr, guys who are considered some of the all time greats.

I thought he played with Henri Richard?
Either way, it's a huge loss for the world of hockey. Especially with this news happening right after Gordie Howe suffered multiple strokes.

With, against, same thing. But yeah, Beliveau and Henri Richard both played for the Canadiens. Their careers may have even overlapped with Maurice Richard for a year or two.

He was considered an ambassador for the game and the city of Montreal, but most of all a true gentleman. One of the nicest guys I've ever met, I was in awe of Mr. Beliveau
